After Wenchuan Earthquake occurring in May 12, 2008, as one of most predominant urban planning establishments in China, Shanghai Tongji Urban Planning & Design Institute (TJUPDI ) was entrusted by Shanghai Municipality and carried out promptly the post-disaster planning work for Dujiangyan City. Then, aiming at better implementation of planning work and meeting urban construction demands coming from southwest cities, the southwest urban planning studio was set up in June, 2008, which is situated in Chengdu, an important socioeconomic, cultural and traffic key node in southwest. The studio is exclusively affiliated to TJUDPI and led by Prof. XIA Nankai, the vice director of TJUPDI, provides all kinds of urban planning service for cities across from the whole country especially in southwest. Due to its strong technical support and perfect professional stuff stucture, the planning work is able to include urban development strategy, master urban plan, regulatory plan, innovative plan, urban design, landscape plan and environment enhancement plan, etc. the studio emphasizes service quality, equilibrium of research and practice as well as the time-pace updating attitude, all of which constitutes the reasons why vast recognition could be gained from all circles. At present, the Director is Mr. XIAO Da, Mr. HUANG Zhen is Chief Engineer.
